Two different costs sit behind PageOptimized, so there are two different ways of paying for them.
Credits: when we buy something for you
Some actions send us out to buy fresh data — keyword volumes, a rank check, backlink records, an AI answer. Somebody charges us each time, so those actions cost credits. Run one twice and we pay twice.
Anything that spends credits shows you the cost before you run it.
Caps: when we store something for you
Site audits and Search Console work differently. Crawling your site is cheap; keeping it is not.
A 5,000-page audit becomes 5,000 rows of page data, every issue found, every link between pages — and it stays there so you can compare next month's crawl to this one. Search Console is the same: we hold years of your daily search data so your charts load instantly instead of waiting on Google every time.
That cost never stops. It is not "once when you run it" — it is every day the data exists.
Credits are a bad fit for that. You would be charged for a crawl you ran in March, forever, and could never predict your bill. So these have a monthly cap instead: a fixed number included in your plan, no per-use charge, no surprises.

Caps reset at the start of each billing month. Unused pages do not roll over — you are paying for storage capacity, not for a bucket of runs.
If you hit a cap
Nothing breaks and nothing is charged extra. Audits will not start again until the cap resets or you move up a plan. If you keep hitting it, the cheaper fix is usually crawling fewer pages more often rather than everything every time — most sites only need a full crawl monthly and a smaller crawl weekly.
